Overnight Parking – Prohibited City Wide

City ordinance prohibits overnight parking on all city streets and lots between 2 AM and 5 AM every day. 

Parking Options

The City of Highwood offers many quality locations to shop and dine in our Downtown Business District. The City welcomes patrons of these businesses with a variety of parking options, including on-street parking and off-street surface lots.

  • Handicapped parking is available in all public lots.
  • Free Two-Hour Parking is available on-street (Green Bay Rd and Sheridan Rd)
  • Metered Parking (Highwood Public Library Lot)

Commuter Train Lots

Daily fee parking is available at both stations at a cost of $2.25 per day. To use the daily fee parking pay with cash

By Phone 
Call (847) 380-4332 and key in the parking zone number and space number, or text the telephone number. Signs at both train stations have instructions, and provide the station's zone number.

Fort Sheridan Station - Zone 333.
Highwood Station - Zone 334.  

To use the pay by phone you can register online by visiting 
PassportParking. Users only need to register once, either in advance or when parking, to use the pay by phone option

Mobile Application
Download the free PassportParking mobile app, available for iPhone and Android. You'll be required to provide a parking zone number for your station and a parking space number at the time of registration. Please have your parking zone number and space number available.

Fort Sheridan Station - Zone 333.
Highwood Station - Zone 334.

Commuter Parking Permits

Parking permits are available for purchase in person at City Hall, 17 Highwood Avenue, or you may download the parking permit application to pay by mail or the City Hall drop-box, located at the south entrance.

Parking Ordinances and Citations

Snow Ordinance Parking Ban
There is no street parking in the City 2 AM to 6 AM from December 1 through March 31.  If special circumstances necessitate parking in a "No Parking" zone, you may call the Police Department dispatcher at (847) 604-8992 to request permission.

Parking Holidays
The following six holidays are designated as "Parking Holidays":

  • New Year's Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Christmas Day
