Renovations are Coming – Give us your Input

Plans are underway for a creating a new look for your library; more open and inviting, colorful, and bright.  We are exploring our options for remodeling two bathrooms, installing new carpet for the main room and children’s room, replacing many bookshelves and desks, painting, and maybe more ....  We are formulating a renovation plan and we will be sure to communicate the date and duration of the library closing via our e-newsletter.  If you have any comments or suggestions, please email us at TheHighwoodLibrary@gmail.com.

Volunteers Needed
If you would like to volunteer for a one time project or on a more regular basis, we would love to have your help!  Please email Lucy at Lhospo@att.net if you are interested in adding your name to our volunteer pool.

Volume 2 of the Highwood Library Highlife Cook Book Available May 9

Just in Time for Father’s Day.......  The Highwood Library Cookbook, Volume 2

US Bank has underwritten the publication of the books so that 100% of the profits will go directly to the purchase of new materials and programming so that we can improve your library.

The Trustees of the Highwood Library are pleased to dedicate our cookbook to the Navy families in Fort Sheridan and to the Army Reserve units who train at Fort Sheridan.  Your service to us and our country is very much appreciated and we hope that through this book dedication, we all will keep in mind the sacrifices that you make for us every day in order to make this world a better place.  Welcome to Highwood!

The Highwood Library has collected 500 recipes from local restaurants and residents for Volume 2 of the Highwood High Life Cookbook.  This is our main fundraiser for the year and thanks to a generous donation by  US Bank, sales from our cookbook will go directly to helping us update our materials and for programming. Buy for yourself or as a gift (friends, teachers, hostess gift) and support your library.  $25 for Volume 2, $20 for Volume 1 (approximately 300 recipes) or the set for $42.50.  Both book covers feature reproductions of local artist Babe Gallissini’s  whimsical and colorful fruit and vegetable paintings.   Books are available by May 9 and can be purchased at the library, Pastificio (122 Highwood Ave. 432-5459), and other local restaurants/businesses (call the library for a list of locations).
