Last night at the City Council meeting, the City of Highwood proudly celebrated a milestone in our community’s long and cherished bocce tradition. The Highwood Stallions were recognized for their role in Illinois’ first semi‑professional bocce league.
The Stallions' Tom Holleman delivered an inspiring presentation to the Council, sharing the rich history of the game of bocce, the evolution of the sport, and the deep roots of the Highwood Bocce Club.
Following the presentation, Mayor Charlie Pecaro issued a formal proclamation honoring the team and declared January 20, 2026 as “Highwood Stallions Day”. In a moment that brought smiles to everyone in the room, the Stallions surprised Mayor Pecaro with his very own team jersey.
