[ARCHIVED] Everts Park Renovation Work Underway - Delayed Due to Weather

Picture1

Over the past several years, the City of Highwood completed the Everts Park Master Plan and subsequently the detailed design for the renovation of the park. The site plan shows the planned improvements which include a splash pad, new playground equipment, new gazebo and band shell, improved lighting, several pollinator gardens, and improved turf grass. The City will also be installing cameras and security monitoring equipment to provide for a safer environment. All of the commemorative plaques and markers (30) have been inventoried and mapped.  They have been removed for construction and will be re-dedicated after.

The renovation work will begin the week of November 16 and continue throughout the winter. We are shooting for a July 30, 2021 grand opening however the recent winter storms and and snow may delay that date.. Construction crews will access the park from North Avenue and use the City lot in that location. The entire park will be fenced off during the renovation work and will be closed to the public.

If you have any questions, please contact me, Chris Martin, at 847-432-1934 or email cmartin@cityofhighwood.org. We appreciate your patience during the construction. The end result will be a fantastic amenity for the Highwood community for decades to come.
