October brought exciting moments of recognition and celebration to Highwood as the Highwood Chamber of Commerce hosted ribbon-cutting ceremonies for two recently opened businesses that have already begun making their mark on the community.
On October 1, the Chamber celebrated The Cuisine American Bistro, located at 331 Waukegan Ave. Mayor Charlie Pecaro, Aldermen Andy Peterson and George Markoutsas, and Chamber Board Members George Zamarron, Anna Maria Viti-Welch, and Nico Ugolini joined the event to officially welcome the restaurant to Highwood’s culinary scene.
On October 22, the Chamber hosted a ribbon-cutting for The Merchant, which opened earlier this summer. Owners Joseph Nebolsky and Cathy Demetrepolos have quickly become active members of the Highwood community, participating in Chamber and Celebrate Highwood events and bringing fresh energy to their space at 122 North Avenue through live music, salsa lessons, and more. Mayor Pecaro was joined by Alderpeople Krista Hanson, George Markoutsas, and Andy Peterson to mark the occasion.
The City of Highwood is proud to recognize these businesses and thanks the Highwood Chamber of Commerce for organizing these celebrations. We look forward to the continued growth and success of our local business community.
