HIGHWOOD, IL (AUGUST 13, 2014) - The City of Highwood is hosting an open house preceding the public hearing to discuss the City of Highwood’s Downtown Projects Guidebook. On Wednesday, August 13th at 5pm, community residents, business and property owners are invited to an open house at City Hall (17 Highwood Ave.) to review documents and provide input on the Highwood Downtown Projects Guidebook. Consultants from professional planning firm Teska Associates, Inc. will be on site to discuss the document, answer all questions community members may have, and accept any input and recommendations. The public hearing will commence at 6pm with a formal presentation of the plan, followed by public comment and discussion with the Highwood Plan Commission.
Teska Associates and the Highwood TOD Steering Committee have put a year of careful review and consideration into the projects guidebook. The document will help shape the future of Highwood, and guide sustainable development and redevelopment plans over the next decade or so.
“The themes and concepts in this document represent a fundamentally different approach to the vision of downtown Highwood,” states Scott Hartman, City Manager. “With the guidance and input of the Steering Committee, this new approach contains viable, realistic redevelopment opportunities that will ultimately create long-term sustainability for Highwood.”
