[ARCHIVED] Highwood Avenue to Become One-Way Street Going East Beginning June 17 for Water Main Lining Project

Beginning on Wednesday, June 17, 2015; Highwood Avenue will become a one-way street, going east from Western Avenue to Green Bay Road. As a result of the Highwood Avenue water main lining no westbound traffic will be allowed on Highwood Avenue for approximately eight (8) weeks.

This is specifically because the water main that is to be lined for the 2015 Capital Improvement Project is located in the middle of the road. The trenches that must be dug to complete the work will inhibit the flow of two-way traffic. Once the lining is completed, we will resume a two-way traffic pattern on Highwood Avenue.

In addition to the one-way traffic pattern, parking will also be limited on this street, including no parking from 6:30 AM-6:00 PM, on any day. Parking will be permitted from 5:00 AM-2:00 AM in the Library Parking Lot, and on the south side of Highwood Avenue from Everts to Green Bay Road from 6:00 PM-2:00 AM. No other on street parking will be permitted during the project.

We apologize for the short notice and understand this poses an inconvenience however, we know it is in the best interest to our residents, businesses, and visitors to provide the safest travel routes through Highwood.

Your cooperation and patience is appreciated as we move through the project.

Should you have any questions regarding this, or the improvement project as a whole, please feel free to contact City Hall at 847-432-1924.
