The Highwood Police Department has received several fraud complaints
targeting Spanish speaking residents in our community. Residents are receiving
telephone calls from
supposed relatives claiming they are in trouble out of state and are requesting
money to be sent via Western Union to the same address in Guadalajara Jalisco
Mexico Calinda Indepen #1344, 44250 or any other such requests. Residents are requested that if they
receive such a call to verify the information before sending any money orders.
Both Western Union offices in Highwood have been alerted to this scam. As
