The Aperion facility on Pleasant Ave. in Highwood is conducting a planned fire protection system flushing on Friday August 9th. This procedure will require large volumes of water to flow through their system which will possibly cause some water discoloration to nearby residents. This discoloration is very similar to effects we see when hydrants are flushed. This is most often caused by iron and sediment in mains which is being flushed out. While the discoloration is not aesthetically pleasing, it is safe to drink. We do not recommend doing laundry with discolored water as clothing may become stained. This effect should only last a day or two depending on water usage.
