Due to the recent transition to the City's new water meter reading system and issues encountered with the initial software conversion, there was a disruption in the City’s customary 2 month utility billing cycle. As a result, the previous bill you received in September may have appeared higher than normal since it was based on three months of usage (covering the period from 06/11/13 to 09/10/13). To bring the cycle back into alignment, this current bill represents only 1 month of usage (9/11/13 to 10/10/13) although it indicates the billing period as being 8/10/13 to 10/10/13. As a result of the one month billing period, this bill may be lower than your customary usage. Please note that since the current bill represents only 1 month of usage, the minimum bill threshold has been lowered to 5 units of usage rather than normal 10 units.
The conversion problem has been completely resolved and the next bill you receive will be back on the 2 month billing cycle covering the usage between 10/11/13 and 12/10/13. You should expect to receive this bill in mid-January. The City of Highwood apologizes for any confusion this may have caused and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we get the utility billing cycle back on track.
On a related note, if you have not scheduled your meter change to the new meter system, please do so at your earliest opportunity. Please know that failure to do so may result in the City pursing legal remedies to complete this meter change out.
