Posted on: July 4, 2022[ARCHIVED] Counseling Services Available
The City of Highwood extends our deepest sympathies to all those impacted by tragic events at the Downtown Highland Park 4th of July parade yesterday, especially the victims and their families. We are horrified by the violence and will stand in support of our neighboring community of Highland Park, first responders, and public service agencies at this difficult time.
For those coping with this tragedy, Text a Tip is a resource with local, trained mental health counselors. It is 24/7 anonymous help for yourself or a friend if you text “224Help” to 844-823-5323, and is also available as the app “Lake County Help.”
Additionally, the Highland Park High School / Township High School District 113, and North Shore School District 112 have counseling professionals available TODAY, Tuesday, July 5, for students, staff and community members at Highland Park High School (433 Vine Ave.) from now until 2:00 pm. No appointment is necessary, but only the Vine Ave. entrance will be open. Anyone who is not a current District 113 student or staff member who wishes to take advantage of counseling services will need to have a valid driver’s license to be cleared to enter the school, which is the school’s standard procedure for visitors to the school.
